Mobility Forum
The establishment of a National Sustainable Mobility Forum as a means of providing a platform for collaborative engagement with national, regional and local stakeholders was one of the core actions under the SMP. events, two online and two in person (in Dublin and Galway), focused on developing the next SMP Action Plan, which will cover the period 2026–2030.

A key focus of this year’s event was to gather input on the development of the new Action Plan, the successor to the SMP Action Plan 2022 to 2025. Discussions were framed around six thematic areas, which were closely aligned with the SMP’s strategic goals:
●Engaging people to choose sustainable mobility alternatives, particularly shared modes (Goals 5 and 8)
●Promoting integrated mobility through data reporting and sharing (Goal 10)
Approximately 160 stakeholders took part in these workshops over the four events, representing a wide range of interests, including transport agencies, transport operators, local authorities, Government departments, commercial shared mobility providers, Disabled People’s Representative Organisations, advocacy groups, business groups, Public Participation Networks and community groups. A Facilitator’s Report of the event was published alongside this Progress Report.
●Integrating land use and transport planning, with a focus on Transport-Oriented Development (Goal 9)
●Decarbonising urban transport networks, including progress and insights (Goals 2 and 3)
●Building safe and attractive infrastructure for active and inclusive mobility (Goals 4 and 7)
●Boosting access to public transport for all, with perspectives on inclusion and accessibility (Goals 1, 4 and 6)
